Copal palo Santo Incense
Copal and palo santo are traditional aromatic materials used in religious ceremonies, meditation, prayer, and spiritual cleansing practices. Copal, a tree resin, has been burned as incense in Mesoamerican traditions for centuries and is valued for its warm, resinous fragrance. Palo santo, meaning “holy wood” in Spanish, comes from naturally fallen wood of certain South American trees and is often used for its soft, woody scent. When used respectfully, these incense materials can help create a calm, intentional atmosphere for reflection or ritual. Burn copal on a heat-safe charcoal disc or incense burner, and light palo santo briefly before allowing it to smolder. Always use incense in a well-ventilated area, keep it away from flammable materials, and never leave it unattended.
