Herhizo Gitano
The term hechizo gitano is sometimes used in Spanish to describe a “Gitano spell,” but it is important to avoid treating Roma or Gitano communities as if they share one set of magical practices. Gitano is a term used by some Roma people in Spain, and beliefs, customs, and religious traditions differ widely among families and regions. Many Roma communities practice the dominant religion of their country, including Catholicism, Protestant Christianity, Islam, or other faiths, while also maintaining family traditions related to celebrations, remembrance, music, and community support. Spiritual rituals may include prayer, candles, meaningful objects, blessings, and gatherings for life events, but these practices are personal and should be approached with respect rather than stereotypes.
